The new line of Gigabit Interface Converter (GBIC) and Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP) transceivers are a combination of performance and affordability. The new D-Link gigabit transceivers are available in two form factors: standard (GBIC) and (SFP). The DGS-712 is an SFP (Small Form Pluggable) transceiver based on the SFP MSA agreement. This module fully complies with the Gigabit Ethernet 1000BASE-T specification defined in the IEEE 802.3ab standard. Supporting full duplex mode, the gigabit module provides data transmission using Category 5 twisted-pair cable up to 100 m.
