Cisco StackWise-80 Technology The Catalyst 9200 series fixed configuration switches support the optional C9200L-STACK-KIT stacking module, which is based on Cisco StackWise-160 technology. This technology uses the Cisco IOS SSO software. The stack is a single mechanism controlled by an "active" switch. This switch automatically selects the redundant switch among other switches in the stack. The "active" switch initiates and updates all switch/routing/wireless network data and systematically synchronizes this data through the standby switch. If communication with the "active" switch fails, the backup switch becomes "active" and performs the operation of other devices from the stack. Access points remain on the stack during these changes. A functioning stack can add new devices or remove unnecessary ones without interrupting the established connection. StackWise-160 creates a complete single IP management system with up to nine switches.
