The MC112CS is a media converter used to convert a signal and then connect a 100BASE-FX fiber optic cable to a 100Base-TX twisted pair cable and vice versa. The device supports WDM technology, which allows you to save 50% of the cost of the cable, since the transmission and reception is done over the same cable. Designed specifically for the IEEE 802.3u 10/100Base-TX and 100Base-FX standards, the MC112CS media converter is designed for use with SC single-mode fiber optic cable. The MC112CS belongs to a class of instruments that uses a long wavelength laser (LX) when transmitting at maximum speed. When transmitting and receiving data, the converter operates at wavelengths of 1310 nm when transmitting and 1550 nm when receiving. Thus, to communicate with the MC112CS, the device on the other end of the wire must operate at 1310 nm when transmitting and 1550 nm when receiving. For example, TP-LINK's MC111CS media converter is just such a device and is fully compatible with MC112CS. Other features of this device include the ability to use the media converter as a standalone product (no mounting chassis required) with support for Auto MDI/MDI-X and automatic duplex negotiation.
